Short answer: I would go back if I were asked to go, but I would hesitate initiating going back. Overall it is a good spot, but I was not wow’ed thoroughly. Long answer: The location’s staff and atmosphere are fantastic for a nice date night. I enjoyed the dress code adherence. The menu is straightforward (which is nice for decision making) and the food is good. However, the food is not great and the steak is under seared in my opinion (I’m not one to like Pittsburg style though). The flavors were all there, but texture seemed to be missing in most dishes. We ordered the scallops, filet mignon, and tomahawk which all seemed to lack the crisp sear that compliments the meat. I had the French onion soup, which has the best flavor of any French onion that I’ve had, but for being, “loaded with onions” it didn’t seem to have many onions at all. The Caesar salad was good. The lobster Mac is very good and I would get that again, but I would avoid the seasoned vegetables, unless you enjoy them more al dente than expected. We finished the dinner with the tiramisu and the pumpkin crème brûlée. Again, the flavors were apparent in the dish, but they lacked texture. The tiramisu does not sit on ladyfingers but sits on a sponge similar to cake. The pumpkin crème brûlée was more of a center-cut piece of pumpkin pie with a light sprinkle of caramelized sugar hit with the torch to just be covered with whipped cream. It was too firm to be in the conversation with crème brûlée, and lacked the strong crusted top to crack into. In my opinion, I would avoid the dessert and stick to the salads, an appetizer that sticks out to you, and any steak asked with a more pronounced sear.

My experience with Taiyo Steakhouse was wonderful. I called during the week for my husband’s birthday and was able to book a private room for the same night. I wouldn’t bank on this being the norm by any means, but I was grateful for their courtesy. The drinks are very reasonably priced, delicious and generous. Some of the food items were on the more expensive side, however the quality of everything ordered was phenomenal. My mouth is watering again just thinking about the menu options. The staff went above and beyond to host us later in their evening and even called us a taxi when we couldn’t reach them. Be warned that this area is outside the zone for DiDi and Daiko’s estimated pick up time was about 1-1.5 hours for a Tuesday night around 8 PM. Don’t be like us, plan accordingly!

This is a beautiful sophisticated restaurant. It is pretty expensive, but that is explained through the delicious food. These huge american-style steak was cooked perfectly and extremely juicey. The bread and butter are bottomless. Good non-alcoholic beverages. They have a wonderfully huge drink list. The only complaint was the bathroom is extremely outdated. This beautiful restaurant/ club needs a better bathroom.

Overall this place is good! I’ve been here a few times. Today was the first time I ate something I didn’t like there, and that’s the crème brûlée. The crème brûlée was warm and very thick texture, and the carmelized sugar was too thin for the ratio of how large the crème brûlée was. BUT I loved all the appetizers, the steak, pasta, and salmon. Service was good as well.

This was the second time we have been here. My husband and I both got the filet mignon as our main course. For starters, we got the shrimp cocktail. I got the Caesar salad and French onion soup, and my husband got the lobster bisque soup with the house salad and Caesar dressing. It was absolutely amazing. The second time we came here we both got the same thing but I decided to also add the lobster tail to my meal. I got the asparagus and mushrooms as a side and my husband got the lobster Mac and cheese. The lobster Mac and cheese was phenomenal, as well as every starter. The filet could use more seasoning or a steak sauce to help with adding more flavor, but it was cooked to perfection. We dined in for dinner. Dress code required. The espresso martinis are fabulous.

Definitely a good place for gatherings and events… but it’s pricey. It’s got a classy vibe and they offer upscale dishes that aren’t typically served on the island. The staff is attentive and they provide helpful recommendations when asked. We reserved an area for a birthday dinner during Covid, and they accommodated our party well.

Definitely the best military food on the island. Quality steak and great service. Glad we went for brunch.

Good food, good atmosphere, service is attentive but drinks are slow. Large group checkout is very long and sometimes frustrating because large tabs correct. Overall it’s still a good steakhouse on the island and glad to have the opportunity to go here. Drinks are very good ( dirty martini) and liquor prices are more than fair. Worth a visit.
